In the past decade, more than 700 humanitarian workers have been killed while providing life-saving assistance to millions around the world. In an effort to raise public awareness of humanitarian assistance, the General Assembly of the UN has designated 19th August as “World Humanitarian Day” (WHD). On 19th August 2003, a brutal attack destroyed the UN headquarters in Iraq, killing 22 people from the UN and the humanitarian community and injuring hundreds of others. Among those killed was the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Iraq. Symbolically, the General Assembly decided to establish the anniversary date of the bombing as World Humanitarian Day.

Fossil fuels are finite resources and they will not last forever. Therefore, we need to research and invest in a solution that will last the test of time. This solution must be kind to the environment too or we won’t even have a home to live in. Fossil fuels leave large amounts of CO2 in the atmosphere after burning and this lead to climate change. On a recent trip to the Tattersalls Ireland August National Hunt sale things seem to be a little busier than usual. On further investigation it appeared that trade had picked up and was matching the levels of 2 years ago. The Hunt sale started sluggishly on Tuesday but picked up significantly in the afternoon. The best individuals were being traded in the afternoon so people were probably holding on for them. The afternoon managed to bring in the first 6 figure sale recorded at the Hunt sale for many years.
