If you are getting prepared for Valentine’s Day and considering what you can plan for your special significant other, you should stop and turn to some exciting ideas. Most individuals go out for dinner or spend a romantic evening indoors, but you may just find you like yourself that much more if you take your date outside and do something different.

Getting active is going to cause an adrenaline rush in the body and these emotions of physical excitement can help to improve the bond and connection you are feeling with your better half.

Those that get active together regularly enjoy healthier and more happy relationships, plus you can feel OK about doing something for your body.

Let's look at 1 or 2 active date ideas that you might consider that are way better than a meal out.

Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is an amazing activity to do with your other half and will possibly offer something different that neither of you have done much of before.

You can sign up for a quick rock climbing lesson at most indoor rock climbing facilities that may help you to learn the ropes so you are better prepared.

Challenge each other to see who can climb the farthest while being there for support and direction if your partner wishes it.

The only down-side to indoor rock-climbing is that you will end up all hot and sweaty, the indoor facilities are also known for being a bit smelly because people are sweating a lot. So if you only just started to date with your partner, then perhaps give this one a miss.

Kayaking/Canoeing

Another great exercise to consider is kayaking and canoeing. These are both miles better done in couples as you’ll have more muscly strength behind you and be well placed to control the ship that far better.

This workout is going to aim towards the upper body as well as the core, and you will burn lots of calories while doing it so it'll be an ideal solution to burn away whatever treats you indulge in at dinner.

Hiking

If you wish to get out into the outside, consider going for a lengthy walk with your important other up a mountain. Getting into the wasteland can be a great way to reconnect with them without the strain of the common-or-garden busy environment of the city.

A good 3-4 hour hike can burn up to 1000 or more calories so that you can feel great that you're doing something positive for your body too.

Consider packing a romantic picnic to take with you and stop half way up to refuel.

Cycling

Ultimately, the last active concept that you can do with your significant other this Valentine’s day is to take a cycling journey around your city.

Map out a few trails you wish to follow and plot some fast stops along the way. Go for coffee, stop and relax somewhere new, and then dine somewhere special for dinner.

This is the ideal small day break that doesn't even involve leaving your own town. You’ll finish the day feeling relaxed and with a memory you may value for evermore.

So keep these ideas in mind this coming Valentine’s day. Instead of doing the conventional dinner in with a box of chocolates and some flowers, consider these slimming ideas instead.
